CAMIBAart Gallery is pleased to present Daydreams, the most recent series of artworks by Dallas based artist Charlotte Smith.  With Daydreams, Smith continues to explore and push the physical boundaries of paint as an artistic medium.  And while there are all the telltale signs to visually identify the artworks as authentically hers, Smith has once again managed to create something fresh and enticing.

Meditative and engaging and a bit like a chameleon, each artwork is versatile and can take on the vibe of the environment around it, as well as reflect the mood of the viewer.  One viewer may find an artwork exhilarating, like blowing snow drifts on the Rocky Mountains just after a blizzard, yet another viewer may think the same artwork is calming like the slow repetitive crash of waves on the beach at dusk.  This is the power of Smith’s magic – her artworks can become the embodiment of our daydreams.  We invite you to make an appointment, enter the realm of daydreams and experience these artworks in person.

In her own words:

“Painting and making art is a meditative activity for me. Some of these repetitive painting processes include dripping, blowing, layering and piling. Many pieces combine all of these techniques. Playing with paint and other materials is more interesting to me than creating images. My recent paintings and installations continue my exploration of materials, shapes and painting processes.”

About the Artist:

Born in Sherman, TX, Charlotte Smith’s artistic practice has culminated in 20 plus years of exploration into pure process-driven abstraction. Over the course of her career, Smith has constantly pushed the physical boundaries of painting, through the arduous building and layering of drips, drops and strokes.
