LETTER TO SUPPORTERS FROM CO-FOUNDER TROY CAMPA
To all of our supporters,
After 3 ½ years in the Flatbed building, CAMIBAart Gallery is on the move. As has been widely reported in the media, in early 2018 CAMIBAart was notified that our landlord would not be renewing our lease (they will redevelop the property). Even though initially we were dazed by the news, ultimately we came to realize this is the perfect opportunity to take a deep hard look at our business model and make adjustments where necessary. We have embraced this chance to re-imagine our roll as a Gallery here in Austin. Through this self-evaluation we realized the standard white-box gallery model isn’t the most efficient and effective way to represent our artists and their artworks and serve our supporters. This realization was critical, and informed the selection of our new location.
Our new home will be in the La Costa Corporate Park, just blocks off I-35 at the intersection of Cameron Road and 290 East (6448 US-290 East, Suite A-102, Austin, TX 78723). CAMIBAart Gallery’s new workspace is designed to operate as a flexible consultation, presentation, storage and exhibition space. Prioritizing functionality over fashion, the new gallery has simple industrial areas for exhibiting artworks with easy access to our inventory and a dedicated viewing area for impromptu presentations to clients.
Moving forward, the majority of our events will be invitation only. These bi-monthly cocktail parties will feature new artworks by gallery artists and will often have an artist-involved component to them such as a demonstration, a performance, or a casual discussion. Those wanting invitations should sign up to either our email or our snail-mail lists. Just because you've received this email does not mean you are on our mailing list, please confirm your subscriptions HERE.
There are a few of you that like to drop into the gallery from time to time to see what is new; we have dedicated noon to 6pm on Friday and Saturday for this. But for the majority of you, we have found you prefer to give us a call before you visit - we remain committed to making the gallery available for your viewing at a time that works best with your schedule - just give us a shout.
Working in this way allows us to be hyper-focused on presenting regional and Latin-American artwork directly to you, our collectors, art consultants, and designers. We will continue to maintain and represent our inventory of over 500 artworks by over 18 regional and over 20 Latin-American artists.
We will operate out of our current Flatbed location through January.
We will open to the public in our new home with a day-long dedication celebration on Saturday March 9th, 2019; be on the lookout for a formal invite in the next month.
Rene and I founded CAMIBAart in 2014 to be of service to the Austin art community. We are excited about the flexibility this new location and re-imagined business model will provide in allowing us to be attentive to our collectors, designers, and artists needs. We are doubling down on our commitment to the Austin art community and our dedication to serving in the best way we can.
I am grateful for your encouragement and continued support.
